A few images from one of the many archaeological sites near Trujillo. These are wall adornments inside the Temple of the Moon.
In a country without rain, structures made of abode brick survive millenia, and painted images, some sculpted in relief, are vivid testimony to ancient culture of Chimu and Moche as well as Inca people.
Excavations are still in progress, as more and more artifacts are being discovered (despite years of 'grave robbing'). Most of the large Inca city spread out at the foot of the temple is still covered in sand and rock.
