Scenes of Coquimbo waterfront fishmarket

Seal awaiting offal from fishermen
A flock of pelicans awaiting their breakfast
Gulls lined up to receive their share
Looking out for number one...
Fisherman quietly enjoying a short rest
Waiting and waiting and waiting
Fishing boats in Coquimbo harbour
Fishing nets make for a comfortable sleeping spot for these two pooches
Veendam at dock in Coquimbo
Rafted against harbour steps, everyone cleans up for the next outing
Bow adornments....
Coquimbo's mosque...overlooking the entire town
Fresh out of the sea, ready to be sold and cooked...
Sunday morning, nothing going on but a lively market at the waterfront, where fishermen were unloading their latest catch. Housewives, restaurant owners, young couples with children all got their Sunday dinner right from the men who caught it. The animal word of Coquimbo knows its calendar, and was waiting with bated breath for the offal, which the fishermen threw back into the sea after cleaning the daily catch.
Seals, sea lions, gulls, dogs, cats, pelicans all lined up for THEIR Sunday treat...
After wandering around for a while amongst the dozens and dozens of under cover and outside stalls I chose an inviting looking shore side eatery and had myself a fresh fish and fires treat - delicious!
