Mansedumbre....the taming of a gaucho horse

As part of the afternoon entertainment in Areco Park, a gaucho is ready to show the impressive results of specific horse taming. Traffic flowed all around the park, people strolled and dogs interrogated everything that moved, but the horse seemed relaxed and happy

Introduction to the spectators...

Lying down, and submitting to touching, bearing weight...all helped along with gentle stroking

Remaining prone, paying attention to the rider, but relaxed

A bit of manual assistance in rolling over to play dead...

Laying on his spine, with all four legs in the air, one serving as a hat rack, the horse holds perfectly still, even for  a little smooch

Taking of the bridle, and preparing to ride without reins

Standing still, like a statue, whilst the rider crawls underneath his belly and repositions each hoof...the horse just observes the surrounding scenery

Alert, but obedient...

Placing one hoof gently on the riders knee. Note the soft leather boots of the rider...all one peace of cow hide, held up with braided leather straps

The finally. the rider standing up in his saddle, just after he also performed a hand stand up there...

Fuerte applauso for the gaucho....

His comrades looking on...
Well, all equine related events have been cancelled by the municipal administration. Weather forecast calls for rain, and the entire area surrounding Areco seems to be under the influence of this weather system....except for Areco.
