10 December 2011 Artesanios at the Rural

My aquisition at the Rural - a finely knitted copper necklace with a sprinkling of malachite.

The Buenos Aires exhibition hall is called La Rural, a medley of ornate buildings, with extravagant facades and an ambiance of Art Deco mixed with Jacaranda trees.

Once a year in December, one of the many halls hosts an exhibition of Latin American artesans: Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, Chile and every Province of Argentina - from Patagonia in the South to Salta in the North - send their artesans to display and sell their creations.

I walked to La Rural, paid my 20 pesos ($5) entry and meandered amongst the hundreds of stalls, organised by atist medium: leather, glass, wood, ceramic, weaving, jewels, toys, and food.

I let the photos speak for themselves...
