22 May 2011 - Sunshine in Victoria's Floating Village

A day of Sunshine, a good reason to drive South - at least as far as Victoria to pick up my mail.
That done, why not trundle to Fisherman's Wharf, Victoria edition, a floating suburb complete with gardens, restaurants, harbour ferry stop, garbage pick up and sewage pumping station.
It also is home to Barb's Fish and Chips, allegedly the best of the best in that particular culinary genre in the ENTIRE WORLD.
There is certainly a whole crowd indulging in said fish and chips, and another crowd feeding herring to a pack of fat harbour seals.

Waiting for the Harbour Ferry to arrive

Pirate of the Wharf

Floating Porch - the News are always happy here...

Waiting for a herring

If I play dead do I get another one???

Waiting for flying fish...

I looked and looked, but did not even find a 'Dung' crab lying on the docks.

But, there was no lack of opportunity to buy freshly caught seafood

It may not save lifes, but is sure looks pretty

21st Century Treasure Finds...the owner, obviously a diver, of this float home had decorated his abode with rows of salvaged cell phones, cameras, chargers etc etc

They may be small, they may be afloat, they may be a maintenance nightmare - but they are not cheap.

Well, I got the spelling wrong...but here she is: Barb's fish place, she serves hamburgers and hotdogs as well.

How much closer to Waterfront property could one be?

OgdenPoint, where the long breakwater invites strollers to a walk 'into the sea'

Back at home...some rhodos just start to bloom...

...and some are definitely past their prime.

Judging by the profusion of apple blossoms, my tree will be loaded with fruit come fall.

Time to find a few hikes in the neighbourhood....Provincial Parks have eliminated parking fees, and now one may walk without keeping one eye on one's wrist watch.
