Well, Blogger did it to me.....I have no iea how this improvement is working, but all my lay outs, texts, titles are gone 'funny' and there is no way I can 'study' this thing on the ship due to atrocious internet charges to waste time on 'learning' this allegedly so much easier way. Good luck marketing people, this 'easier' blogging sure makes it difficult for me.
So here goes...everything all over the map, pictures and all.
A herd of Centurions in action
Romans and Countrymen, lend me your ears.
A frightening Barbarian
Romans on the march
Ben Hur eat youyr heart out
Roman Profile
Senators and Ladies
Chainmail for every Roman
Feathered Helmet
Extent of Roman Empire at it's height...
Well, being surrounded by Roman Centurions, Legionaires, Senators, Vestal Virgins, Vandals and Barbarians in full period regalia and marching down the Via del Fori Imperiali towards the Colosseum and past the Forum gives one a faint idea of life during Roman times. Rome's Birthday, and the troops are out, competing for top honours not in the Roman Circus, but along antique Rome's broad major avenue. There were gladiators impressing with heaps of muscle and tridont spears, slaves in rags, senators in togas and ladies and pristesses sprinkling flowers. Mock fights were staged during the procession, and troups marched in period sandals, managing to make a terrifying noise on the ancient pavement.
Chainmail, helmets, wolf and other wild animal skins, bloodhounds, mounted soldiers, prancing horses....the whole thing live instead of carved in marble.
maybe the shops were closed, but ancient Rome had come alive.
