7 August 2012 - From Fog to Thunderstorm...

Faugust has arrived, and shallow layers of fog hug the ocean surface on some mornings. Fog lifts and descends within a blink of an eye, one moment a view like this, the next one can hardly glimpse the bow of one's boat. Radar and Chart display keeps me out of the way of ferries (who do not deviate from their routes) and flocks of pleasure boats.
Whale watching....

Strong wind warming in effect, and a massive thunder cloud stretches over the entire sky. I am tied to a mooring, facing the gusts. Lightening flashed and thunder roars for hours, bringing back memories of Lake Ontario, where storms like this are almost a daily summer occurrence. Here - possibly another manifestation of climate change.

Back to my home dock for a few days, hosing salt off the boat, doing laundry, restocking the boat fridge, picking up mail....then - with luck and good weather - out onto the sea and amongst the islands again.
