Sunday stroll on Calle Defensa...

Sunday in the City. Lets give the dire daily news a rest and enjoy a warm summer weekend, with a pleasant stroll along the markets, stalls and sidewalk cafes of Calle Defensa, where almost anything is for sale, and almost anything can be found.

Antique chamberpot, one of a large collection of these soup terrines. Glad that the times for these things are gone (one hopes) as having one of those underneath ones bed during a Buenos Aires nigh, with soaring temperatures it may prove a little odorous.
'Colours in the Sky, Kites of the City'
The City Museum - gratis - has a kite exhibition.
And here is one of the many artistic kites. The photo points towards the ceiling...one hopes the plaster does not fall down on these fragile works of art.
No sunscreen needed for this painted beauty. A folding beach chair with a painting by Biazzi

No famous artist name here, but still quite an impressive painting on a street corner of Calle Humberto 1
The outside of a hostel, price per night 10 dollars US. The courtyard inside looked quite lovely and inviting.
Found a 'consultario' which is an unofficial exchange for US dollars. Yes, it is now up to 8 pesos to a US Dollar on the 'blue market'. One regrets not having brought more greenbacks, as the ATM rate is still only 5 pesos for a Dollar.
But - 2012 inflation reached 26%.
Another mural in a cafe entrance, depicting an Argentinean cavalry soldier a couple of centuries ago.
A little late, but better late than never. Messi won his fourth (?) golden football and accepted it in this star-tling tuxedo by Dolce y Gabanna. The suit made the gossip colums more than his unparalleled success of being the best ever soccer player in the world - according to the Argentinean news anyway.
Six years ago, Madrona, the great soccer player of old, who cedes above honour grudgingly to this 24 year old from the City of Rosario, wore a similar suit with larger dots, to a similar ceremony. Playing homage to the masters maybe?
Messi now plays with Barcelona.
Forever Tango...at least in the realm of dancing there are now bad news.
