1 July 2012 - Canada Day...the evening prior to the 145th birthday of our Country bodes well in terms of clement weather for the local festivities.
A view north from the balcony, summer evening when the sun does not set until after 10:00 p.m. |
Dressing up the house to be shiny for the great day...pressure washing the muck of the driveway |
Do the patriotic thing, red and white Geraniums with a little Canadian Flag |
Festivities in the community include a march past of the Veterans. Each year the little troup gets a little smaller. But, the heroes of WWII battles and peacekeepers of many off shore wars don their uniforms, march erect and proud, chest out, chin up, eyes forward - never mind aching knees and arthritic joints. |
Some cannot march, their war wounds very much in evidence, but they still serve in their minds, hearts and memories. |
Oh Canada, and God Save our Queen!! |
May this little one never need to come home battle weary.... |
Disciplined and sharp, medals gleaming, and uniforms as smart as if issued an hour ago. |
Just in case anyone may mistake a patriotic Canadian for a citizen of any other country, red, white and Maple Leaf proclaim 'We are Canada' |
Even dolls are dressed in flag colours |
Our Canine Friends bark with enthusiasm the bit about 'Standing on Guard' |
Labradoodle in red scarf |
No Maple Leafs for this couch potato, he is more interested in whether Spain or Italy make the European Soccer Championship |
Babies and more babies...the twins are being weaned to grass, mother walks off as soon as the 'kids' make any move towards her udder. |
One learns to cope, and the grass is succulent after our continuous rain |
And another lot of babies, teacup sized future bandids |
Mother is somewhat on the 'stout' side, twins just rollick around |
Hiding in Saint Johns Wort |
Lock up your garbage....these chappies will be master thiefs of same by the time the next Canada Day rolls around. |
